FAQ
Frequently asked questions
The questions farms ask most — from using Cowboard, payments and data to beef cattle feeding, breeding and shipment. Still curious? Leave a note on the inquiry board.
Using Cowboard
Can I use it without signing up?
Yes. Open Cowboard Web in your browser to build a board and register animals without signing up. Note that data is stored only in the browser, so it's lost if you switch PCs or clear the cache.
To preserve data, sync across PCs, or use multiple boards (farms), sign up and register a license.
What's the difference between Lite, Pro and Premium?
In short — see the pricing page for the full comparison.
- Lite (free): single farm (board), 50 animals, no cloud backup.
- Pro: single farm, unlimited animals, cloud backup, pedigree & breeding management.
- Premium: multiple farms (up to 5), plus expert features like nutrition graphs, feed formulation and map background.
Should I use the desktop app or the web version?
If your internet drops often or you always work from the same farm PC, the desktop app is more stable. The web version is handy for trying it out or checking data quickly from elsewhere. Both can share the same data via cloud backup.
Can I export data to Excel?
Yes. Use "Save to Excel" in Cowboard's top menu to export animal lists, shipment records, breeding records, calf reports and more — either the current board only or all boards at once.
Can I manage multiple farms from one account?
On the Premium plan you can create up to 5 boards (farms). Each board fully separates its animals, shipment, breeding, owner and nutrition data. Merging or moving data between farms is supported separately.
Payments · Licenses
How does payment work?
Domestic payments are processed via Toss Payments by credit card or bank transfer. A license key is issued immediately on payment and emailed to you; you can also see it right away under License Management in your web account.
On how many PCs can one license key be used?
One license key is active on one PC at a time. When changing PCs, deactivate on the old PC, then register on the new one. Deactivation is available inside the app or on the web license page.
What is the refund policy?
Within 7 days of payment, with no license registration/usage history, you get a 100% refund. With usage history, a prorated refund applies for the remaining period. Refunds return to the original card/account within 5 business days.
Can I transfer a license to someone else?
Licenses are account-based, so transfers aren't supported by default. For special cases such as farm sale or succession, contact the inquiry board and we'll review and assist.
Are group/association purchases available?
Group purchases are arranged separately. Discounts are available for 10+ accounts — leave your group name, size and expected quantity on the inquiry board.
Data · Security
Where is my farm data stored?
By default, only on your PC (desktop app). If you enable cloud backup, it's additionally stored in Supabase-based secure storage and synced with other PCs on the same account. You can turn cloud storage on or off at any time.
Can Cowboard staff view my farm data?
Cloud data is isolated per account, and Cowboard staff do not access it unless you request technical support. We never share or sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for details.
What happens to my data if I delete my account?
On account deletion, cloud data is permanently deleted after 30 days. Within those 30 days you can request recovery; after that recovery is impossible. We recommend exporting your data to Excel before deleting.
beef cattle feeding · management
How should I score BCS?
On a 1–5 scale. The meaning of each score, measurement sites and target BCS by breeding stage are explained with tables in the beef cattle BCS guide (Korean).
What is the standard shipping age for steers?
The average shipping age for Korean steers is 30–33 months. To maximize grade and settlement, though, decide per animal based on daily gain and predicted marbling. See the shipping-timing guide (Korean).
A calf has diarrhea. What should I do first?
(1) Isolate, (2) assess dehydration, (3) start oral fluids — do these immediately on discovery. Over 9% dehydration needs IV fluids. See the step-by-step calf diarrhea guide (Korean).
Poor estrus detection is lengthening my calving interval. How do I improve it?
Low estrus-detection rates stretch the calving interval to 14–16 months, costing well over ₩1,000,000 per head per year. Improve step by step: more visual checks, tail paint, then pedometers. Cost/accuracy comparisons are in the estrus-detection guide (Korean).
Should I mix my own feed or use commercial feed?
Farms under ~10–20 head are most efficient with commercial stage feeds plus forage. Farms over ~50 head benefit from making their own TMR on feed cost. Stage recommendations and standard mixes are in the feed formulation guide (Korean).
Troubleshooting · Contact
The app suddenly closes or data doesn't show.
First fully quit Cowboard and relaunch. If the problem persists, the data file may be corrupted. You can load the most recent backup from the auto-backup folder (Settings → Backup folder), or restore from the cloud if cloud backup is enabled.
Cloud backup fails.
Check your network connection and that you're logged into your Cowboard web account. Cloud backup stops automatically if your license expires. If it continues, contact the inquiry board.
I have a feature I'd like added.
Feature requests are always welcome. Leave it on the inquiry board with your use case. Each quarter we collect requests, prioritize them and fold them into the roadmap.
